Every Child Deserves a Green Schoolyard

Every child deserves a green schoolyard.   With over 200 schoolyards completed to date, The Trust for Public Land has been leading the Green Schoolyard movement for the last thirty years.  But we cannot do this alone.  This workshop is a call to action. We will review the basics of how to advocate for a green schoolyard in your community and provide advice on implementation.  Educators from Sussex Avenue School in Newark, NJ will provide insight on the educational impact of a green schoolyard.  We will review the educational  benefits associated with green infrastructure solutions in schoolyards and discuss how incorporating green infrastructure solutions into schoolyard design can attract additional funding.   We will review the impact green schoolyards have on advancing the goal of putting a park within a ten minute walk of every American and why, in particular, schools are uniquely positioned to help advance park equity.
